On Saturday afternoon, dead body of a woman and the hanging body of a man were discovered on the ground floor of a multi-storey house merely 100 yards away from Narayanpur police station. According to both police and local sources, the man identified as Sagar Mukherjee is believed to have slit throat of his wife, Roopa Mukherjee, and then his own life by tying a rope around his neck. Sagar even slit their daughter's throat, who miraculously survived.
Local residents rushed to the scene, recovering the bodies of Sagar Mukherjee and his wife. Fortunately, the young girl was found alive and was promptly taken to a nearby private hospital near Chinar Park, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Senior officials, including local MLA Tapas Chatterjee and Bidhannagar Commissioner, arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
